Laguna Beach Books welcomes local author Solange Ritchie

On Thursday, Sept 24 at 6:30 p.m., Laguna Beach Books will welcome local author, Solange Ritchie. Solange will be discussing her latest book, The Burning Man.

Nancy Marsh, Consuelo Vargas, Carrie Ann Bennett, Jane Doe… Strangers separated by life circumstances and status, these once-lovely young women share a tragic bond: being savagely mutilated and then left for dead in the lush fields or pristine waters of Orange County, California, by a meticulous killer.

Who is this unspeakably cruel serial killer? What will it take to end his spree of horror? For answers, local police seek out one of the FBI’s most respected experts: Forensic Pathologist/Agent Dr. Catherine (“Cat”) Powers. For Cat, driven investigator and devoted single mom, the quest to catch the elusive “Burning Man,” as the media has branded him, quickly becomes all consuming—and chillingly personal.

In her debut thriller, The Burning Man,author and practicing Orange County lawyer Solange Ritchieunravels a string of harrowing murders while drawing readers into the mind of a depraved genius. At its heart, the novel is the story of the killer’s adversary, Cat.

In this flesh-and-blood character, Ritchie traces the painfully real struggles of a driven woman who is torn between her career demands and motherhood, and a family saga involving Cat’s young son and his loss of innocence.  As the murders mount, with escalating violence, the gifted FBI profiler gains insight into the monster’s demons, desires, and double life. What’s more, she can’t shake the sense that he’s hiding in plain sight, watching and taunting her.

Born in the beautiful tropical island of Jamaica of a Jamaican father and a French mother, Solange Ritchie immigrated to the US at age 11.  Since then, she has been a dynamic force for change. Despite the demands of a busy legal career with her husband, Steve Young, she has achieved a successful writing career. Dubbed “the Case Saver” by her legal colleagues, she was awarded the State Bar of California’s Solo and Small Firm Section’s highest award, the Myer J. Sankary Attorney of the Year Award for 2014.  With a passion for philanthropic work, Solange serves on numerous charities and legal boards, including the California Women Lawyers Association, The Orange County Bar Association, The Community Court’s Foundation and El Viento.
