Roger Elvin Carter

Roger Elvin Carter passed away May 15, 2024. He was 90 years of age. Roger was a long-time resident of Laguna Beach. He lived happily in the National Church Residences Complex, Vista Aliso, for the last 24 years of his life. He considered the workers there and his many neighbors good friends. He is survived by his niece, his nephew and his great niece. His closest friend was Teddy Ly.

Roger held a Bachelor of Science from George Williams College and graduated with honors. He worked with the YMCA as a director, a program director and he also worked as a teen director. He conceived the Leisure World Century Club, raising $24,000 in its first annual fund drive.

In 1971, Roger started his own successful painting company – The Painters. He ran the business until he retired. He enjoyed art, swimming, gardening, traveling, photography, graphics, biking, weight training, music and writing. Roger was a wonderful tour guide and entertainer. He was an avid reader of the Laguna Beach local papers and often wrote letters to the editor.

As a retiree, he enjoyed volunteering at the Susi Q Senior Center, and he was very appreciative of the services they provided.

Roger asks for donations to be given to the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St., Laguna Beach.
