Local photographer joins #FrontStepsProject to raise money for the COVID-19 crisis

Laguna Beach photographer Margie Pettit has decided to join her fellow photographers around the world in the #FrontStepsProject raising money to help with the COVID-19 crisis. For those who read the Easter Parade story in Stu News on Tuesday, Pettit was the photographer.

#TheFrontStepsProject, a “coffee moment” idea between Boston photographer Cara Soulia and her friend Kristen Collins, kicked off in Needham, Mass. on March 17, 2020. Hundreds of photographers from around the country started their own #TheFrontStepsProject efforts, collectively raising over $200,000 for local organizations and nonprofits.

Pettit says, “I will be booking quick photo sessions to document families in this crazy time – from a safe distance of course – I have a very long lens! There is no fee for this. However, if they want to donate to my GoFundMe campaign to help get PPE to the healthcare workers around the U.S., they can.”

“I am donating to Direct Relief (www.directrelief.org) which is a four-star charity working to get personal protective gear and other medical essentials to the places it’s needed the most,” says Pettit. “This will go directly to them and is 100 percent tax deductible.”
