Couple taking wedding photos swept off rocks into ocean, rescued by Laguna Beach lifeguards

A couple taking wedding photos on Tuesday night, June 30, at approximately 6 p.m. on the rocks at Middleman’s beach, were swept off of the rocks into the ocean fully clothed.

The Goff Tower lifeguard Camron Hauer responded to the incident.

“Camron provided the rescue tube to the conscious victim (male) when he noticed that the second victim (female) was floating face down. Camron left the flotation device with the conscious male to rescue the unconscious female,” said Laguna Beach Marine Safety Captain Kai Bond.

“Lifeguards Carter Haight and Jakob Herbert responded from adjacent beaches to assist in the rescue effort. Both the male and the female were rescued by lifeguards and transported to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach by an ambulance and Laguna Engine Four as near-drowning patients with multiple lacerations and bruises.”

Both patients were released from the emergency room later that evening and are expected to make a full recovery, according to Bond.
