On Thursday, June 21, Laguna Art Museum will present a movie night and screening The Square. The award-winning 2017 drama satirizes the contemporary art world.

In the movie, a prestigious Stockholm museum’s chief art curator finds himself in times of both professional and personal crisis as he attempts to set up a controversial new exhibit.

The film was written and directed by Ruben Östlund and stars Claes Bang, Elisabeth Moss, Dominic West, and Terry Notary.

The film was entered into the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d’Or. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards in 2018.
