The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre holds Conservatory Program Auditions on June 12 & 16

On Tuesday, June 12 from 6:30 - 8 p.m., and on Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m. -3 p.m., Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre is holding auditions for new students, ages 10 to 17, interested in the year-long tuition-based Conservatory training program. The program engages motivated, dedicated and creative individuals interested in studying and stretching their creative wings in a professional setting. Scholarship assistance is available.

Participating students will expand their knowledge in Acting, Improvisation, Scene Study and Analysis, Audition Techniques, Technical Theatre and more. Students learn from working professionals on and off the stage; they play hard while building a strong community of ensemble artists.

All students participate in both plays and musicals, showcases and fundraisers either on or off stage, and have an opportunity to learn a variety of theatrical jobs and tasks. Theatre students gain life skills and become more effective communicators and citizens. Artistic, academic and personal growth are a proven benefit of studying the craft of theatre. Classes meet once a week from September to June.

Auditions are by appointment only. Call Wally Ziegler at (949) 342-1785 to schedule an audition. New students, ages 10 to 17, prepare two memorized monologues, one comedic and one dramatic, each one and a half minutes in length. Material should be age appropriate.

Participants should bring a current photo and a resume.

Auditions will be held at the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach, 1085 Laguna Canyon Rd. After the initial audition, family interviews for prospective student (by invitation) will be held on Monday, June 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club.
