Laguna Beach Library presents writing workshop with Kathryn Lang-Slattery on June 11

On Tuesday, June 11 at 5 p.m., Laguna Beach Library presents “True Writing: How to turn a true story into a novel or memoir” with Kathryn Lang-Slattery, who will share her writing experience and offer tips on plot development, use of dialogue, and finding your message.

Kathryn Lang-Slattery is an author of fiction and non-fiction. She has been published in several highly rated magazines for the youth market, including Spider, Ladybug, Jack and Jill, Boys’ Life, and Faces. Immigrant Soldier, The Story of a Ritchie Boy, her first adult novel, was based on her uncle’s World War II experiences.

Laguna Beach smileLang-Slattery has recently finished writing a travel memoir on her two years of traveling in a VW camper around half the world in the early 1970s. Her writing finds its inspiration from her life experiences, her interests, and her family stories.

Kathryn lives in Laguna Beach, only steps from her childhood home, where trees, birds and her vegetable garden surround her. Besides writing, her main interests are travel to foreign places, creative gourmet cooking, pastel painting, and time with family and friends.
