Amy Amaradio (on right) and Mercedes Lara co-founded Dear Mom, a conference for mothers of children with Down syndrome. The Dear Mom website states the event is, “A dream birthed from a realization that friendship with another mom raising a child with Down syndrome is one of the strongest tools you’ll have in this journey.”

Shauna Amick, one of the amazing speakers from #dearmomconference, called all the mamas “dangerous.” She said, “Yes we are! I also think we get to be dangerous because our children encourage us to be fearless!”

At Dear Mom, the focus and vision is to provide spaces and events that inspire, encourage, and connect moms with other moms along the journey of raising a person with Down syndrome. It’s an opportunity to have a moment to rest, enjoy the company of others, and engage in a relationally inspired community.

Junior Artists section for display of works by 35 artists with Down syndrome, which were sold with a percentage of the proceeds going to Dear Mom. Amaradio says, “Why not art? FOA is all about art. It fits the character of the venue. It’s a chance for people with different abilities to be highlighted and showcase their work and talent.”
