High-risk stolen vehicle stop sends pair to jail on multiple charges

On Sunday, Nov 17, at 12:26 p.m., LBPD officers located an alleged stolen vehicle reported to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, Nov 15. 

According to LBPD Spokesperson PIO Sgt Jim Cota, “A high-risk vehicle stop was executed at the 700 block of High Drive and both occupants were detained. The vehicle was confirmed stolen and a vehicle search yielded a small amount of methamphetamine, fentanyl, stolen property, checks, and indicia of drug sales.” 

Sgt Cota said, “The female suspect, Mission Viejo resident Kristin Moen, was on informal probation. She was arrested for numerous charges including possession of prescription sedative for sales, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, violation of a court order, identity theft, grand theft, and being an unlicensed driver. 

“The male subject, Santa Ana resident Matthew Kozak, was on formal probation. He was arrested for violation of his probation,” Sgt Cota said.

No bail was set.

Motorcyclist breaks his femur and arm in collision

On Sunday, Nov 17, at 6:51 a.m., LBPD officers responded to an injury collision involving a motorcycle versus a vehicle. 

According to Sgt Cota, “The motorcycle rider, lacking a motorcycle endorsement, was transported to Mission Viejo Hospital in Mission Viejo with a broken femur and broken arm. The injured party was a San Juan Capistrano area resident.” 

Traffic was not impacted.
