LBHS Boys Water Polo pink flamingo fundraiser – watch for flocks!

The Laguna Beach High School Boys Water Polo Boosters announced yesterday that they are going to the birds…flamingos that is. They are warning the good-humored citizens of Laguna Beach that a flock of flamingos might take residence in their front yard in the very near future.

In an effort to raise money for their program and the upcoming season, the boosters will deliver the iconic birds, along with a “You’ve Been Flocked” banner explaining how and why the flamingos ended up on their lawn. The target will never know who paid to have them flocked — unless you want them to.

In order to have the flock in one’s yard removed, a ransom (donation) of $25 will see that a member of the LBHS Boys Water Polo team come and remove it. A $50 donation, meanwhile, will have the flock not only removed, but “relocated” to a friend’s yard of your choice!

“We see it as a fun way for our boys to kick off the start of their season and engage with the Laguna Beach community,” said booster president Kendall Clark. “We hope it will make people laugh and put a smile on their face when they see that their lawn has gone to the birds!”

Clark says that you can expect flockings to begin around the third week of August and continue throughout the month of September. Additionally, she notes to place your “Flocking Order” sooner than later…there are a limited number of flocks available and only while supplies last.

Flockees must reside in Laguna Beach city limits and flamingos are not allowed to flock on public property or apartment complexes.
