Supervisor Bartlett elected Chairwoman of Orange County Board of Supervisors

On Tuesday, Jan 8, Supervisor Lisa Bartlett was elected unanimously to serve as Chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors by her colleagues. Supervisor Bartlett represents the Fifth District, the County’s second largest and home to more than 650,000 residents, including Laguna Beach.

Supervisor Bartlett will take on this important leadership role throughout 2019. Supervisor Michelle Steel will serve as the Board Vice-Chair. 

 “I am honored to be granted the opportunity to serve as Chairwoman and would like to thank my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors for trusting me with this great responsibility,” said Chairwoman Lisa Bartlett. “We have been able to accomplish so much these past few years and it is imperative we keep with that momentum moving forward to ensure that constituents of Orange County are well-represented.”

Supervisor Bartlett was also sworn in to her second term representing Orange County’s 5th District on Tuesday. She previously served as Chair of the Board in 2016. She was first elected in November 2014 and took office in December 2014. During her first term, Supervisor Bartlett focused on County transparency, opportunity, efficiency, and accountability.

Bartlett thanked Supervisor Do for his leadership over the past year in his role as Chair and said words of encouragement for the upcoming year. “I look forward to working with Vice-Chairwoman Michelle Steel and my fellow Board colleagues; our County CEO, Frank Kim; and our entire County of Orange staff to accomplish our many goals for 2019 and beyond.”

Supervisor Bartlett began her involvement in local governance in 2006 when she was elected to the Dana Point City Council. She later served as the Dana Point Mayor Pro Tem in 2007-08 and as Mayor in 2009 and 2014. She holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration. 

Bartlett represents the Fifth District, the County’s second largest and home to more than 650,000 residents. It includes Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, and the unincorporated areas of Coto de Caza and Ladera Ranch.
