LBUSD Career Roundup introduces students to career opportunities, life skills

The Laguna Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) held its Career Roundup on Tuesday, March 12 in LBHS’ Dugger Gym, an event designed to introduce students of all grade levels to a broad spectrum of career opportunities and vital life skills.

The event, embodying LBUSD’s commitment to nurturing informed, curious and capable global citizens, featured an evening of educational workshops, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities tailored for students and families from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade.

Highlights included career readiness and financial literacy workshops aimed at middle and high school students, parents and LBHS alumni, as well as live demonstrations by the Laguna Beach Fire Department. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in arts and technology presentations, including a preview of LBHS CTE Theatre Pathway’s spring musical Mean Girls, alongside interactive experiences such as drone flying and robot driving.

Scott Wittkop, chair of the LBHS Visual and Performing Arts Department shared information about the Graphic Design pathway with students and families. Meanwhile, Art Teacher Shelley Juhl-O’Brien (J-OB) provided details on the Visual/Commercial Arts pathway.

With activities ranging from CPR workshops to fashion design and science experiments, the Career Roundup offered students and families practical, engaging learning experiences. This event was a testament to LBUSD’s dedication to equipping its students with the necessary skills for career and personal success from an early age, inviting the community to support student exploration, inspiration and

fun.
