Meet Rotary’s Student of the Month

The Rotary Club of Laguna Beach recently honored LBHS Senior George Mohammed as March’s Student of the Month in the field of Visual Arts. Mohammed describes himself as a “very self-diverse learner who pushes himself to do better and grow.”

Mohammed has received the high school Breakers award three times, the Rotary’s Youth Leadership award, including serving as this year’s Rotary Interact president, and has been listed on the honor role every year. He has also completed AP Visual Arts and Honors Engineering.

When not in school, Mohammed trains in Jujitsu and kick boxing. He has also contributed more than 100 hours of community service. His future plans include pursuing art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York, a top-rated college for art and design. He would then like to work in the apparel design field with a goal of starting his own company or brand.

The members of Laguna Rotary are actively involved during the year with fundraising projects such as “Grapes for Grads” and the “Classic Car Show” to raise money for local nonprofits, and fund student scholarships at the high school and the Laguna College of Art + Design.
