“Erratic” car chase on Memorial Day was the result of suspected hit-and-run

On Monday, May 27 at 12:46 p.m., a caller reported seeing a vehicle (white Honda Civic) strike a parked vehicle and drive away from the area of Anita Street and Glenneyre Street.

A nearby LBPD Motor Officer located the suspect vehicle in the downtown area and attempted to initiate a vehicle enforcement stop.

According to LBPD, the suspect vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle fled northbound on Coast Highway, ultimately making it into Corona del Mar.

“Due to the motorist’s erratic driving, the pursuit and responding officers were canceled,” stated LBPD.

The suspect vehicle was identified and LBPD stated they would be pursuing criminal charges.

Then, on Thursday, May 30, Costa Mesa Police located the suspect vehicle in a shopping center parking lot in Costa Mesa.

LBPD Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect at 9:49 a.m. on charges related to the incident.

The suspect was transported for booking; the investigation is ongoing.
