Juveniles detained following report of one pointing gun at victim in traffic

On Sunday, June 7 at 5:42 p.m., Laguna Beach Police Officers responded to the area of Legion Street and South Coast Highway in reference to a report of a male passenger pointing a firearm at a victim in traffic.

A description of the suspect and vehicle was given and LBPD Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle.

All three male occupants were detained, and it was later determined all three males were juveniles.

A loaded un-serialized firearm was located inside the vehicle. The three male juveniles were brought to the Laguna Beach Police Department for further investigation.

4th of July “vegetation fire” extinguished swiftly by bystanders and LB Fire following reports of fireworks in the area

On Thursday, July 4 at 10:52 p.m., the Laguna Beach Fire Department and Orange County Fire Authority were dispatched to a “vegetation fire” in Laguna Beach. The initial caller advised that the fire was located behind the hospital, but it was later determined to be on Sunset Avenue.

Laguna Beach Fire Department Investigators were first to arrive and found a 10’ x 10’ spot fire, which had been mostly extinguished by bystanders upon arrival. The remaining fire was extinguished by fire personnel using a fire extinguisher.

This incident was handled by Laguna Beach Engine #4 and Laguna Beach Fire Investigators and all additional dispatched units were canceled.

No arrests were made, and the cause of the fire was not determined. There were reports of fireworks in the area at the time of the incident, however, the Laguna Beach Fire Department did not issue any citations or make any arrests related to fireworks.
