Providence Mission Hospital recognizes four clinicians with annual Distinguished Physician Award

Providence Mission Hospital has recognized four outstanding physicians with its second annual Distinguished Physician Award. Established in 2022, this award celebrates physicians who display exceptional dedication, leadership and commitment towards their practice and patients.

“We created the Distinguished Physician Award to honor the vital role our doctors play in caring for our South Orange County community,” said Seth Teigen, chief executive at Providence Mission Hospital. “We are blessed to have talented and devoted physicians who create a culture of excellence in partnership with our caregivers, to help our patients achieve lifelong health and well-being.”

The award categories include Clinical Excellence, Humanitarian, Leadership and Culture and Teamwork. Physicians were nominated by colleagues, other providers and caregivers across Providence Mission Hospital to be considered for the award. The 2023 Distinguished Physician Award recipients are:

Dr. Basit Rahim, Neuro-Critical Care, Clinical Excellence

Dr. Rahim demonstrates clinical excellence through unparalleled expertise and patient interaction. Mission Hospital caregivers describe him as promoting a “multidisciplinary environment for all, contributing to solutions and improving care.”

Dr. Afshin Doust, Hospitalist, Humanitarian

Colleagues describe Dr. Doust as a “consistent provider of excellent patient care at Mission Hospital Laguna Beach with a sincere commitment to serve.”

Dr. Charles Bailey, Infectious Disease, Leadership

Known to be readily available for any question, fellow physicians describe Dr. Bailey’s leadership as “one of the most valuable elements of success here at Mission.”

Dr. Kenneth Meng, Radiology, Culture and Teamwork

Dr. Meng is known by colleagues as someone who “is not afraid to stand up and say, this can be done better.” His commitment to provide the very best in every aspect of care is respected and revered.
