The city of Laguna Beach presents proclamation to Laguna Food Pantry, Second Harvest Food Bank in recognition of Hunger Action Month
Last week, Laguna Beach Mayor Mark Orgill presented a proclamation on behalf of the city of Laguna Beach to Laguna Food Pantry Executive Director Anne Belyea and Melia Cary of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, recognizing September as Hunger Action Month. The proclamation highlights the importance of coming together to ensure our neighbors have access to nutritious groceries.
Hunger Action Month, which takes place every September, is a time to raise awareness about food insecurity and encourage people to take action, whether by donating, volunteering, advocating, or supporting organizations working to ensure everyone has consistent access to the food they need.

“We’re grateful to the city of Laguna Beach for recognizing Hunger Action Month and for the community’s continued support of the Pantry,” said Anne Belyea, executive director of Laguna Food Pantry. “It takes all of us – donors, volunteers, food partners and community members – to make sure our neighbors have access to the groceries they need.”
While the beginning of October means Hunger Action Month has ended, the need and opportunity to help continue year-round. Laguna Food Pantry thanks everyone who took action this past September and everyone who continues to support our community.
Laguna Food Pantry is open Monday through Friday, 8-10:30 a.m., offering free, fresh, nutritious groceries via a drive-through system. Visit www.lagunafoodpantry.org to learn more, volunteer, or donate. The Pantry currently needs more volunteer drivers to help with grocery rescue. Your support is vital to their mission of ending food insecurity and hunger in our community. They believe no one should go hungry.
